The main works included decommissioning existing infrastructures, dismantling and demolishing previous constructions, carrying out a complementary drilling campaign, building a moulded retaining wall, earthworks, reinforced concrete and metal structures, finishing, water and sewage networks, gas, electrical and telecommunications installations, centralised technical management, security, HVAC and geothermics, as well as mechanical lifting equipment.
The two towers, with seven floors each, are separated by a large central plaza, partially covered and shaded by metal beams covered with glass fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) panels. This central plaza serves as a pedestrian entrance to the building and also houses retail and restaurant areas.
The underground floors have a massive appearance, characterised by the extensive use of white reinforced concrete on walls and floors, and a stretched steel mesh on the ceilings, except in the noble spaces such as the auditorium, exhibition hall, cafeteria and multipurpose hall, which are internally clad in wood.
The façades of the towers are adorned with vertical structural slats of different thicknesses, made up of metal profiles covered with white glass fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) panels. The office floors have accessible technical flooring, carpeted finishing and accessible stretched steel mesh ceilings, providing a functional and modern environment.
EDP's New Corporate Head Office building not only reflects excellence in engineering but also contributes significantly to the modernisation and enhancement of the city of Lisbon, setting a new standard for future corporate constructions in the region.
