This project involved the construction of the Hospital CUF Descobertas building in Parque das Nações, in Lisbon. It is structured on three functional levels: upper floors, ground level and basements.
The upper floors correspond to floors 2 to 7, where the inpatient wards, the general canteen and the administration facilities are located. Floor 2 is reserved exclusively for the maternity ward.
The ground level corresponds to floors 0 and 1, where the services with the greatest connection to the outside are located. The basements correspond to floors -1, -2 and -3 where all the support services, technical areas and car parks are concentrated.
Building a hospital is a huge responsibility, not only because of its size, but also because of its functionality. In order to ensure the stability and quality of the infrastructure, the following specific works were carried out: earthworks, deep foundations (∅ 1.00 m piles and anchored diaphragm walls), structure, finishing, exterior arrangements, special installations (water and sewage, electrical and security networks, management, lifts, ventilation/AVAC, compressed air, medical gas network and transformer substation).
Hospital quantitative data:
- Number of rooms: 135
- Number of car parking spaces: 226
- Number of floors above ground: 8
- Number of floors below ground: 3
- Construction volume: 107,812 m3
- Construction area: 38,357 m2
