The works also included land modelling, road network, pavements, irrigation network, outdoor lighting, street furniture, installation of technical infrastructure needed for the hospital to function properly and be put into service, special hospital medical facilities and various technical installations, such as water supply, sanitation, gas, fire protection, heating, air conditioning and pressurisation of rooms with chemical filtration, structured cable system, electrical and electromechanical systems and circuits, emergency electrical generator sets, medical gas system, voice and data network system, centralised technical management and monitoring, integrated security systems.
On floors 0, 1 and 2, there are 2 rectangular areas measuring 220mx23m and 220mx30m, connected to each other by 4 perpendicular rectangular bodies. There are also 3 other areas perpendicular to the upper body, with plan dimensions of approximately 15mx45m and one measuring 40mx45m..
On floors 3, 4 and the roof, the building is formed by a rectangular horizontal body measuring 170mx15m to which 3 bodies are connected at the top measuring 16.5mx63m and 2 bodies at the bottom measuring 12mx25m.
The structural solution adopted consists, in general terms, of a set of reinforced concrete pillars, arranged in a regular and orthogonal grid with spans of 7.50m in both directions, complemented by a set of reinforced concrete walls located, for the most part, in the stairwells, lifts and around some ventilation shafts. This set of pillars and walls supports the slabs of the different floors, which are generally solid and fungiform slabs.
The exterior façade walls are made up of perforated masonry with external thermal insulation using the ETICS system (Cappotto type) or a ventilated façade with Alucobond-type composite cladding panels.
The hospital floors serve different purposes and are divided as follows:
Floor 1: Car park, pharmaceutical services, staff restaurant, kitchen, archives and changing rooms, maintenance, technical management, data centre, warehouses, sterilisation centre, linen room, laboratory centre, waste and mortuary, goods dock, water tanks and thermal power plant.
