The first phase consisted of laying the foundations and structure, comprising a two-storey exhibition pavilion with a floor area of 6,180 m2, an annex building with an auditorium and administrative area, as well as a pedestrian bridge linking these buildings and the riverfront.
The second phase involved finishing work and special installations, namely water and gas supply, sanitation and rainwater drainage, electricity and telecommunications, as well as HVAC.
The new Museum, inaugurated on 23 May 2015, is located on Avenida da Índia in Lisbon and combines museology, as a heritage exhibition space, with urbanism.
