Building 1 consists of a training pavilion for futsal, foyers for events, a covered outdoor square adjacent to the pavilion and underground car parking. Building 2 houses the facilities of TV channel Canal 11, the Portugal Football School, a restaurant and exhibition spaces.
During the construction work it was necessary to integrate the buildings into the existing terrain, filling in the depression created by the construction of the housing infrastructures. The levels adopted for the car park and arena allowed the spaces to be properly related to the elevations of the surrounding streets and prevented the buildings from intruding on the urbanisation and landscape.
Separating and differentiating the pavilion and building 2 was one of the project's priorities. This led to the creation of two distinct volumes with recognisable shapes. The pavilion, with its more regular volume, is perpendicular to the road to the west (A1 Street) and is topped by the roof of the square. Building 2, with its more organic shape, articulates the rigidity of the CF's supporting walls and fields (north) with the pavilion (south).
The buildings were placed as close as possible to the east side of the site in order to free up space between them and the central avenue of the Alto da Boa Viagem neighbourhood. This option makes it possible to gain space to the west of the buildings to model the land as a slope, relating the buildings' access level to the level of the central avenue.
Lastly, the variation in height of the streets was used to resolve and clearly distinguish the different outdoor spaces and the different accesses to the buildings.
This project included the following specific works:
