The work included:
- Earthworks to shape the terrain for the creation of the new cell;
- Implementation of the waterproofing system and technical networks;
- Excavation for the extension of the leachate treatment lagoon.
Due to the high complexity of the project, a diverse set of specific tasks was required, of which we highlight the following:
Clearing and stripping of the intervention area;
Earthworks to shape the terrain for the confinement cell;
-Implementation of the waterproofing system for the base and slopes of the two compartments, consisting of:
.Passive Barrier - a 0.50 m layer of soil, reinforced on top with bentonite geocomposite;
.Active Barrier - a 2.0 mm thick HDPE geomembrane, protected on top by non-woven geotextile in the base area of the cell;
-Drainage mineral layer at the base of the cell, with a thickness of 0.5m;
-Leachate drainage system;
-Rainwater drainage system;
-Subsurface water drainage system;
-Cell degassing system;
-Access roads to the base of the compartments and perimeter circulation around the cell;
-Fire network;
-Service network;
-Electricity distribution and lighting network;
-Groundwater monitoring system.
