The bridge over the Ceira River is a part of Lot 3 of the Pinhal Interior Sub-concession, one of the most important highway projects of recent years in Portugal. The total cost of this infrastructure was some 20 million euros.

The bridge is 930 m in length, its principle span measuring 250 m at a height of 140 m from the river bed and consists of a single deck with a road surface 26.40 m wide. It also comprises of a multiple portico with a maximum span of 250 m that crosses the Ceira River with an access overpass with spans of 40 m.

This bridge is the 6th largest in the world to use the cantilever method along with the S. João bridge, in Porto, and, as such, was an infrastructure project that was complicated to carry out, although very stimulating.
