Included work such as:
- Rehabilitation of wastewater, rainwater and water supply networks;
- Sidewalk redesign;
- Vehicle parking areas and circulation lanes;
- Recovery of electrical networks;
- Implementation of road markings and traffic signs;
- Earthworks within the construction area;
- Paving of the avenue's roads.
The project process can be divided into 5 different specialties:
Pavements:
- Earthworks for pavement preparation;
- Improvement of surface characteristics by removing and replacing existing pavement layers;
- Laying cube and micro-cube paving stones.
Water supply/drainage networks:
- Replacement/repair of rainwater drainage systems;
- Replacement/repair of sanitation systems;
- Replacement/repair of water supply networks.
Signs:
- Installation and replacement of vertical signage (traffic signs);
- Restoration of horizontal signage (road marks) in sections where pavement works were carried out;
- Installation and replacement of traffic lights and illuminated signs.
Cross-section profile:
In the section where the redevelopment took place, Avenida da Boavista features a cross-section profile with two carriageways, each having two lanes per direction, sometimes including an additional parking area.
Pavement Structure:
The pavements of IC1 were constructed over the existing pavement, with the following structure:
- 6.0 cm – Wearing course in bituminous concrete;
- 7.0 cm – Binder course in dense bituminous concrete AC20;
- 9.0 cm – Bituminous macadam AC20;
- 30.0cm – Bituminous base course (with specific grading);
- Total – 22.0 cm in bituminous mixtures.
