Foz Tua Hydroelectric Power Station

The dam is located in a deeply embedded valley within a granite massif with a low level of alteration that is downstream of the installation, just beyond the EN 212 road bridge towards the mouth of the River Tua.

In addition to a reduction in the slope gradients and a widening of the valley floor, there was also a geological change in the massif from granite to schist formations.

The main elements of this project comprised:

1. - Concrete dam;

2. - Shaft powerhouse and compact substation;

3. - Underground hydraulic circuit;

4. - Laying of access roads;

5. - Top of the dam;

6. - Quay water intake structures;

7. - Tailrace outlets;

8. - Construction of a temporary diversion on the EN 212.

The project also included the excavation of a channel in the riverbed between the tailrace outlet and the mouth of the River Tua, along with the construction of an observation and control station, the works for the temporary river diversion consisting of two cofferdams (one upstream and one downstream) and a diversion tunnel located on the left bank.
